The staff is excellent, very nice people, and do their job without being pretentious about it, unlike some other theaters I know. SV8 skips getting new carpet or updating random unnecessary interior decor and offers instead a decent price that you can take your kid to see a movie without having to skip paying the gas bill for a couple weeks afterward. Salem Valley 8 may not be spectacular ambiance, but Im paying to see a movie, not sit on a cloud and look at the pretty curtains. Where the bigger theaters have "luxurious" seating and prettier atmosphere, etc, their prices are outrageous, tickets and concession. If its been a while since you tried it out I would highly suggest you give it another try. I will probably only go to this business in the future to see movies because it is much closer to my house, its cleaner, more pleasant staff, MUCH more reasonable prices. The theater did not have any odor this time. Somebody really cleaned this place up!!! They have digital DLP projectors, great screens, new carpet, comfortable seating and the theaters are very clean all around.
A long time ago the place had run down, the theaters smelled strong of moldy mop and the floors were sticky from all the residue that hadnt been cleaned up. It had been a number of years since I visited this theater.
